# WhatsApp scan QR or WhatsApp Official?

One API key sends through both channels. What differs is WhatsApp's rules for each kind of number.

## WhatsApp (scan QR)

For WhatsApp numbers connected through a device (scanned with a QR code in Klik Flow). Use `channel: "whatsapp_qr"`.

- Text and files at any time to numbers that have chatted with the business before.
- A chat to a new number needs the `messages:new` scope (Send to new numbers) and is limited to 50 per key per day.
- Templates and OTP codes are not available on this channel.
- Send at a reasonable pace and only to customers who agreed to be contacted, so the number stays healthy.

## WhatsApp Official

For WhatsApp Official numbers in Klik Flow. Use `channel: "whatsapp_official"`.

- Text and files only within 24 hours of the customer's last message; outside that, send an approved template (`type: "template"`).
- OTP codes use an Authentication template (`type: "otp"`).
- WhatsApp Official conversation costs, if any, follow the bill in WhatsApp Official › Costs (WhatsApp Official › Biaya).

## One key for both

One API key (`kf_live_…` or `kf_test_…`) from Settings › API & Webhook (Pengaturan › API & Webhook) sends through both channels.

- Pick a specific number with `from`; the list is in `GET /api/v2/channels`.
- A key can be limited to specific numbers when it is created; it then only reads the chats of those numbers and sends through them.
- A key's scopes follow its creator's role and are never wider.
